A community focused music festival is being planned by residents of Sible Hedingham.

Heditude Music Festival is being planned for people of all ages to enjoy and to support some charities.

Aaron Stevens, one of the organising committee, said: “I was talking to the older members of the village who were reminiscing at The Hedingham Sports and Social Club.

“They were talking about the carnival, dances and community spirit, so on a whim I posted on Facebook on the Sible Hedingham community page to see people’s thoughts on a music festival - the response was overwhelming.”

Joining forces with Natasha, from Swan Street Barbers, and Tracey, from the social club, the trio are pushing ahead with plans and have already held some public planning meetings.

Mr Stevens said: “There was a superb turnout at the first meeting and the idea has snowballed from then.

“One of our main goals is not just only to raise money for community projects but to bring people together of all ages through different varieties of music.

“Our aim is to make it a sociable and family orientated event with festival activities for all ages.”

Organisers have discussed plans with Braintree Council and already made contact with several bands about the prospect of performing.

To raise cash for the festival, fundraising events like a music quiz and battle of the bands will take place in the run-up to the event.

The next meeting of the committee takes place on Tuesday from 8pm at The Hedingham Sports and Social Club, Station Road. Everyone is welcome to attend or contact the Facebook page for more information.

The festival is due to take place Saturday, June 30, 2018.
