A NEW coffee shop is feeling at home a week after its official opening.

Karen Slack and her business partner Kevin Gooday refurbished the former Dough’s Bakery in Halstead’s town centre, turning it into Coffee Kavern.

The duo are having a grand opening event next Saturday and Sunday, to let residents know they are in Bridge Street.

Karen said: “We are really pleased as we have had some really positive feedback from people, and we even have a few regulars.

“There is definitely a community vibe, we are now supporting Halstead in Bloom and have donated raffle prizes to some local schools.”

During the grand opening, there will be a buy one get one free deal on hot drinks, and some samples of food and drink to try.

It will also be in perfect time for Father’s Day on June 18.

The coffee shop has already earned some five star reviews on the Facebook page, and staff hope the trend will continue.

Karen said: “The grand opening is just to reinforce the fact we are properly open, not many people know we serve both hot and cold food all day.”

The modern shop also has free high speed Wifi, an IT Bar with mains and USB charge points, and staff also lend charge cables if customers forget theirs.

The opening hours are 8am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday and 9am to 3pm on Sunday.
