A Halstead house is still carrying a celebration mark from VE Day.
Simon Edney has lived in Colne Road, Halstead, for 11 years.
Simon said: “When we moved into the house, I noticed a big ‘v’ on the wall on the front of the house.
“I was going to wash it off, but then got told by one of my neighbours that it was put there on VE Day.
“As far as I’m aware, we are the only house with it.”
VE Day is celebrated on May 8 and marks the victory in Europe at the end of the Second World War.
In 1945, huge street parties were held to celebrate the victory.
It was the 70th anniversary of VE Day on Friday.
