A man has been inspired to organise a sponsored walk after hearing about Braintree District Mencap.
Marty Southernwood, 40, who used to live in Hawkwood road, Sible Hedingham, has organised the walk for Braintree Mencap Play Scheme tomorrow at 10am from the park in Sible Hedingham.
The part time musician said: “The reason I choose this cause is very simple.
“I asked my friends on Facebook for ideas on charities to raise money for that are local.
“A friend’s daughter goes to the play scheme and loves it, but it has nearly closed down in the past through lack of money and I decided I would like to try and help.
“I have never organised a charity walk before but I like to walk and why not get healthier and raise money at the same time for a great cause.
“I’d love people to donate as much as they can afford.”
