A man beat incredible odds to became the seventh player in a year to score a hole-in-one at his golf club.
Hotel manager Richard Last, 50, of Halstead, achieved the feat during a competition at Gosfield Lake Golf Club on the 170-yard, par-three second hole.
Gosfield Lake Golf Club manager Tony O’Shea said there had been seven hole-in-ones recorded at the club in the last year, which is highly unusual.
Scoring a hole in one is extremely rare, with odds of around 12,500 to one.
Players who manage to beat the odds traditionally have to buy a round of drinks for other members at the club bar.
Mr O’Shea said: “For a golfer it’s very unusual and it’s the highlight of your golfing career.
“I think Richard did have to buy some drinks, I don’t think his golfing colleagues would let him get away with that.”
