Halstead's MP has confessed he has “the nicest job in politics” since David Cameron promoted him to a ministerial position in the cabinet office.
Last month the Prime Minister announced that Brooks Newmark was appointed minister for civil society as part of his shake of the cabinet ahead of the next general election.
Dad-of-five Mr Newmark, who won his seat in the town in 2005 and has sat on the treasury select committee since 2012, will work alongside David Cameron and Nick Clegg dealing with charities and the voluntary sector.
Since his promotion more than two weeks ago, Mr Newmark has debated in Parliament about the benefits of the national citizen service, toured charities in Cambridge and visited a school in Rwanda for a week.
