Villagers may be left without easy access to their doctor after proposals for a new GP surgery were rejected by health bosses.
Two sites, in Nuns Walk Field and the Hunnable Industrial Estate, had been identified as possible locations for a new surgery in Great Yeldham.
But NHS England has said the plans do not fit its current spending guidelines.
Instead, it wants to build a new surgery in Sible Hedingham, which will serve the surrounding villages.
Iona Parker, district councillor for Yeldham, has campaigned for a new surgery.
She said: “Lots of elderly people in the village don’t have transport and I worry about how they would get to a surgery in Sible Hedingham."
