Determined volunteers have raised £600 towards the cost of a new projector as part of their campaign to reopen Halstead Cinema.
Hundreds of people attended the event at Halstead Football Club, in Rosemary Lane, to show their support for the reopening of the cinema, which closed in 2005.
The cinema, at the Empire Theatre, in Butler Road, Halstead, needs a new projector so Craig Smith, of Dooley Road, Halstead, and fellow campainer Danni Baxter, arranged the fundraiser to raise money towards the cost.
Mr Smith began his campaign to bring back the cinema last year and now has over 600 supporters on the campaign’s Facebook page.
The event raised £600 and the team hope to hold another event in the summer.
