Halstead's MP has praised the quick turnaround of the town's secondary school as a good news story for the area.
Brooks Newmark visited Ramsey Academy last week and praised the Colne Road school, which is now rated good after going into special measures last summer, as an example for others to follow.
He said: “I was very impressed with the way the new head has turned things around.
“If there is ever a good news story for our area it is that.
“To go from inadequate to good, with outstanding leadership, from nowhere, is great.”
Ramsey Academy headteacher Dan Gee said: “We are pleased to hear Mr Newmark cited the Ramsey Academy as an example of a school that has improved at a rapid rate and, obviously, we are keen to continue on this journey.”
