TV watchdog Ofcom will not be investigating complaints about revealing outfits worn by Britain’s Got Talent judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.
Some 89 viewers complained to the watchdog – while more contacted ITV – saying that the pair’s racy outfits during the live rounds of the programme, which included plunging necklines, were “inappropriate” for a family show.
But Ofcom said that after assessing the complaints it would not investigate, because the dresses were not sexualised.
“We assessed a number of complaints about the clothing worn by two female judges being unsuitable before the watershed, but won’t be taking the matter forward for investigation.
“In our view, the dresses appropriately covered the judges and they were not portrayed in a sexualised way,” a spokesman said.
Amanda said, as she presented This Morning, that she had “not lost any sleep” over the possibility of an investigation.
“I forgot all about it,” she said. She said of her dress: “Everything was strapped in. Nothing was going to go wrong,” and added that “89 people out of 11.2 million complained”.
This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield told her: “Well, you looked gorgeous.”
