A charity shop manager in Halstead has given an old doll's house a second life after turning the discarded toy into a festive centre piece.
St Helena charity shop in Halstead High Street operates 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, selling discounted items like clothes, books, toys and electrical goods.
Shop manager, Carrie, let her creativity run wild last month when she upcycled an old doll's house – turning the discarded toy into a Christmas display centre piece.
She said: “I found this old doll house at the donation centre that was due to be sent to the tip.
"I decided that I could make something special for our Christmas window.
"After planning how I wanted it to look, I had some paint mixed.
"It was thick and dirty with dust, so it needed a good clean before I started painting.
"It took four coats to cover the blue and the slate roof!
"I then got a white pen and drew the white parts on.
"I spent the evening with my glue gun in the shop putting it together ready for the Christmas market event.”
The doll's house is now the shop's main window display piece - proudly presenting Carrie's labour of love.
