Selection worries for Halstead

Halstead Town have several selection worries for their final game of the season at Stowmarket Town.

Town still have a mathematical chance of winning promotion to the Ridgeons League premier division.

But they have a host of players absent.

Andy Joslin and Paul Abrahams are both definitely out, with Ross Barton, Tom Austin and John Pollard also highly unlikely to figure.

And trio Chris Bryan, Danny Rowell and Mark Emerson are all unavailable.

Daniel Cooper is suffering from illness but could make a return.

Halstead manager Jody Brown said: "I'll be looking at reserve team players to come in and perhaps the possibility of getting some players in who are still registered for us on dual loans from earlier in the season."

Town know they would have to win by a specific number of goals and then hope other results go their way if they are to have any chance of going up.

But whatever the final scenario, Brown has urged his players to finish on a high.

"A win tomorrow is vital to our season as there is a major difference between fourth and seventh in the table," he said.

"Whatever happens, I just hope that the supporters can see the progress being made and the effort the players have given all year.

"It's six defeats in 42 games which shows the turnaround.

"It's been a tough week for us, with first the final, then promotion and now the semi-final defeat.

"We have to learn from the big game experience and ensure that we go one better next time."
