MICHAEL Goodman proved the best of the early risers as the seniors at the Essex Golf and Country Club played their annual Breakfast Challenge Three Clubs and a Putter competition.
The round was punctuated by a breakfast after nine holes, but Goodman kept his concentration over the whole 18 as the 16-handicapper won with 34 points.
Colin Davies took second place with 33 points on countback from third-placed Brian Geer, while nearest the pin on the par three seventh hole was won by Bill Attwood.
