CATHY Hatcher marked taking her position as this year's lady captain at Gosfield Lake Golf Club by hitting her ball straight down the middle at the traditional drive-in ceremony.

Last year’s Lady Captain Jenny Starr putted out in front of more than 50 members, who were playing in a competition held by the new captain to raise funds for her charity the Farleigh Hospice.

The competition was an individual stableford played on both the Lakes and Meadows courses, with fourballs mixed with men and ladies drawn together.

The winning lady on the Lakes course was Carole Robinson and the runner-up was Marilyn Bond.

The men’s winner on the Lakes course was Malachy Shields and second-placed was Jeremy Paterson.

The first placed lady on the Meadows course was Ann Millar and second placed was Patricia Edwards, while the men’s victor was Kevin Oakey with runner-up being Tony Day.
