HALSTEAD Boxing Club’s young senior heavyweight Joe Bonito secured victory by a unanimous points decision at the Lowerstoft ABC Annual Dinner Show at the Pontins Holiday Centre in Lowestoft.
Bonito was matched against Sean Kavanash of Ipswich ABC.
Kavanash looked a solid unit and pressured Bonito from the start with his heavier punches a she tried to control proceedings with sharp, heavy combinations.
Bonito was always in control, though, demonstrating neat skills and keeping his boxing at long range as he picked up the points to end round one.
The Halstead boxer really got into his groove in rounds two and three.
His hand speed and higher work rate dominated the action as he went forward, with hurtful superior punches constantly finding their target and he showed no fear against a heavier and aggressive opponent.
Bonito kept his style and shape, using his strengths to great effect and was exceptionally pleased with his unanimous points victory against Kavanash who proved to be a very dangerous and tough fighter.
