JOHN Phillipson and John Manser battled through challenging conditions to beat 16 other pairings in the Brian Carter Trophy at the Essex Golf and Country Club.
They were clear winners with a score of 41 points with second place going to Ian Pike and Martin Kehoe on countback with 39 points.
Nearest the pin on the par three 165 yard seventh hole was Ray Mabbutt.
