TWO pairs returned 42 points in the Seniors Team Crescendo betterball stableford competition at Braintree Golf Club, but after a countback, Gordon Hewitt and Peter Hepworth were declared the winners.
Hewitt, off 15, and Hepworth, off 18, edged ahead of Raymond Jenkyn (10) and Gordon Moss (15).
Another countback was needed to decide the following places after four pairs signed for 41 points.
Third place went to James Larn (10) and Richard Turner (20) with Andrew Bullock (9) and Anthony Mayo (17) placed fourth.
Andrew Bardell (14) and John Bell (25) finished fifth while the other pair with 41, and finishing sixth, was John Stone (14) and Derek King (17).
The midweek Seniors Pairs Stableford produced clear winners in Steve Lythell, off ten, and 11-handicapper James Larn.
They signed for a combined 71 points to finish five clear of the field.
There was a countback for the other places with three pairs finishing on 66.
Runners-up were Mark Whitfield (15) and Andrew Styles (27), with Andrew Little (10) and Michael Collard (23) third ahead of John Stone (16) and Jim Rowe (17).
