The winners from the Winter League opening round collect their prizes from the new Essex seniors captain Bob Rayner.
A FIELD of 42 seniors got this year's Winter League off to a flying start at the Essex Golf and Country Club but none were out of the blocks quicker than Bill Sharpe.
He claimed the win in the opening round with a score of 41 points and also saw his handicap cut by one to ten.
In second place, with 40 points, was Brian Arscott, while third place went to Adrian Grubb with 38 points.
These scores will now go forward to the Winter League total where the best six rounds from eight will count.
Nearest the pin in two shots on the par four second was Roger Springett.
