PERSONAL bests were sent tumbling for Halstead Road Runners members at the Pleshey Half-Marathon.

Perfect weather conditions meant some very quick times were set over the 13.1 mile course, with personal bests (PBs) for several Halstead runners, including Jon Greenley, who knocked eight minutes from his previous time.

Mike Grealy's performance secured him first place in the Essex County Grand Prix series, which will be confirmed next week at the Tiptree Ten.

Multi-sport specialist Mel Candler tackled the Great Notley Dualthon over a 4km run, a 20km bike ride and another 4km run.

Candler finished in one hour 19 minutes 11 seconds to take sixth-placed lady.

Andy Wilmot ran a marathon double at Barrow, near Bury St Edmunds.

In Saturday's event he completed the 26.2 mile course in 4h 30m, before Sunday's was finished in 4h 41m.

Dan Smith ran in Sunday's Flower Of Suffolk trail marathon.

Starting at Walberswick, the 27.2 mile route runs through Dunwich, Minsmere and Sizewell, but a few minor navigational issues meant that Smith actually ran 28 miles and finished in 5h 34m.
