COURTAULD Halstead Bowls Club’s men have finished top of the North West Essex League division C after losing only two games during the season.

Captain Terry Reynolds led his team to promotion after narrowly missing out last year.

The C team have had a fabulous season, losing just the two games and amassing 77 points from their 14 games to win the league by four points.

They are now due to play Stansted A in the division C champions' play-off at Witham on September 18.

It is Courtauld Halstead's first league title since 1998.

Meanwhile, the club's A and B teams both finished the season fifth in their respective leagues.

There was also a great result in the Sudbury Open Triples quarter-final, as Eve Lock, Pat Ashcroft and Colin Tuxworth won 21-4 against a strong team from West End.

The Courtauld triple proceed through to the semi-finals, which are being held in Halstead tomorrow.
