THE annual Community Golf Day attracted 100 golfers in 25 teams competing for the winner’s trophy at Gosfield Lake Golf Club.
The 18-hole stableford team event was played with the best three scores from four players counting.
The winning team was the Dream Team comprising Dave Turner, Rob Brown, Ralph Rowe and Barney DeBeer with a combined 131 points.
In second place, scoring 127 points, were All Change with Brian Swan, Kevin Ward, John Crisp and John Ames and just one point behind were the Evergreens of Ernie Cable, Mike Stanley, Malachy Shields and Gary Lewis.
The best individual scores were fiercely contested with only one point separating the first three players.
In third place was Graham Hepworth with 40 points after countback, ahead with one point more was Rob Best, who also lost out on countback to Phil Joy with 41 points.
The nine hole Team Scamble morning competition was won on the front nine by The Band with a net score of 24.3 for team members Dave Dewitt, Neil Manton, Bob Lodge and Adam Gibbons.
The back nine winners were The Misfits with a net score of 24.4 for Nigel Collings, Stuart Jones, Ray Brown and Bob Rumney
Club captain Jeremy Paterson presented the prizes and an auction by Bob Rumney raised more funds to exceed the £2,000 pounds expected by the organisers.
For 22 years, the club and the members have supported the day raising many thousands of pounds to benefit the local community and local charities.
Funds have benefitted Gosfield villagers of all ages and activities including the cricket and football teams, scouts, guides, senior circle, primary school, mothers and toddlers group, local charities and other village groups and organisations.
