BOB Prescott received a two-point handicap cut as well as the silverware as he triumphed in the Vets Trophy at the Essex Golf and Country Club.
From a field of 35 seniors, Prescott emerged as the clear winner as his 40 points earned him victory and a handicap trim from 22 to 20.
In second place, with 36 points, was Ian Dunbar, while third went to Rob Chisholm on countback with 33 points and John Manser took nearest the pin honours on the fifth hole.
The best score by a senior who is 70 or over came from Brian Arscott with 32 points.
There was also success for the Essex's seniors as they travelled to the Notleys for a friendly competition.
On a warm morning, the Essex men managed a 5-3 win against their hosts.
