IT was Colne Valley Golf Club's youngsters who took the honours against the juniors from Gosfield Lake in the match to decide the Essex Youth Shield league winners in Zone B division two.
Both teams were at the top of the division with three wins apiece and the deciding game gave home advantage to Gosfield.
On a hot afternoon the juniors from Colne Valley adapted to the conditions and came out the victors by four games to one. Harry Rayner teed off for Gosfield but lost narrowly by two and one to Charlie Hatley, Jack Stoney played well against Samuel Bruce and won by three and one to bring the match all-square.
The last games were all in Colne Valley’s favour, though, when Gosfield’s Aaron Smith, Piers Halley and Shaw Radley went down to Callum Penick, Micah Blower and Jules Hardy.
