THE seniors of the Essex Golf and Country Club enjoyed not only some beautiful weather but also the result as they hosted Haverhill in a friendly match.
It was a 6½-1½ win for the hosts, but Haverhill did take nearest the pin honours as their player, Jim Day, got a hole-in-one on the fifth hole.
In a supporting stableford, Ray Mabbutt was third with 36 points, with second going to Roger Springet with 38 and the win to Graham Newman, whose 39 points earned him a handicap cut from 26 to 25.
