FIVE players broke par and received handicap cuts at Colne Valley Golf Club's Lombard Medal Qualifier, but it is Rob Wallace who will play in the regional final at Thetford next month.

Wallace won with a nett 65 and was joined in recording a sub-par round by Brian Amos, Tommy Bowles, Mike Blinman and Zac Taylor.

The ladies' monthly stableford resulted in a win for Jean Adams with 38 points, followed in second place by Jan Eves with 37 and Sue Gilbert was third with 34 points.

The men's monthly stableford was won by Daniel Fraser with 40 points.

Jack Perfect-Brown claimed second place with 39 points and Stuart Hurst took third place with 35.

The 2016 Captain's Putter competition saw 18 current and past captains compete in rather chilly conditions.

It was a full handicap stableford but players could earn additional points by holing out in one putt from the verge or off the green.

Current Vally captain Jerry Callow took full advantage of this to come home with 49 points and claim the Captain's Putter. Allan Scott came second, two points behind, with Peter Blowers one point further back.

Karen Charles won the ladies' nearest the pin on the 17th, while Ken Foster took men's honours on the 11th.

Callow again featured by winning the mixed nearest the pin on the third.
