CAPTAIN David Lord took a team of 16 Essex Golf and Country Club seniors to Five Lakes to play the away leg of their annual friendly match and returned with a 4-4 draw.
Roger Farson won nearest the pin, while three of the Essex's pairs won their matches, three lost and the other two pairings drew theirs.
The second leg will be played later in the year at the Essex.
The third round of the Memorial Plate saw Ron Thayre take nearest the pin honours on the seventh hole.
In third place was Jim Duignan, in second was Roger Springett and the winner, with a score of 40 points was Rob Chisholm, who also saw his 14 handicap cut to 13.
