Halstead Town kept the pressure on the top three in the Thurlow Nunn League division one promotion race with a 1-0 win at Haverhill Borough.
The Humbugs won their Friday night fixture thanks to Sam Cripps' headed goal in the 15th minute.
The goal came after Marcus Warren advanced down the left and swung in a superb cross to the far post to where Cripps was coming in to head home.
It proved to be the game's decisive moment as Halstead picked up a precious three points.
Their win meant they were just two points behind the division's second and third-placed sides - Great Yarmouth Town and Ely City - having played two games more than their promotion rivals.
