The ladies’ Coronation Foursomes saw a victory for Caroline Fields and Alison Holborn at Braintree Golf Club.

They won with 32 points to finish one clear of Karen Aslett and Jacqueline Firmin.

There was a countback to decide third place with Debra Blundell and Elizabeth Maynard getting the verdict over Janet Jenkyn and Judith Pryke after both pairs returned 28 points.

Fine weather produced fine scoring over the weekend, with both days’ stableford competitions being won with 39 points.

On Saturday, Vincent Clayden finished in pole position off an 11 handicap, finishing two points ahead of Paul Shrosbree (26), with Luke Berry (14) third on 36.

It was a similar story on Sunday although a countback was needed before James Bussell (6) was declared the winner over David Wager (15) after both had 39 points.

They finished two points better than Martin Hawes (1).

In their first friendly match of the year, the club’s seniors were beaten 6½-4½ by Five Lakes.
