Colne Valley Golf Club’s youngsters emerged as the winners in the opening Coastal Tour event of the year at Frinton.
Each of the Coastal Tour’s venue clubs, Frinton, Harwich, Millers Barn and Colne Valley, had teams playing.
The Valley juniors were victorious, with Jake Hesketh, from the winning team, returning the best nine-hole score of 43.
Callum Pennock, from Colne Valley, took the higher handicap category, while the best girls’ score on the day was from Charley Hatley.
Thomas Mead completed a really strong showing from the Valley youngsters, taking the gross prize on countback with a score of 79.
RESULTS: Monthly Bogey: 1 Gary Ayling +3, 2 Steve Taylor +2, 3Steve Willingham 0.
Ladies’ stableford: 1 Sue Petchey 29pts, 2 Celia Larkham 24pts; Men’s stableford: 1 Ken Poulter 36pts, 3 Brian Swan 29pts.
Ladies’ Winter League: 1 Megan Ball 17 pts, 2 Sue Gilbert 15pts (ocb), 3 Jan Eves 15pts.
