WITHAM II 0 HALSTEAD TEMPLARS 22
Friendly
Halstead won on the road in this hastily arranged friendly fixture against a game Witham second team.
The home team, with strong numbers, had a very strong scrum, which was their trump card but the regular league fixtures for the Templars at a higher level saw them home with some clinical finishing.
The first score came on ten minutes from a kick and chase from Josh Donaldson for a 5-0 lead, before Matt Harwood, who was playing flanker for the day, crossed unchallenged from the back of a maul from the 22 yard line.
On 30 minutes, the territorial game via clever kicks into open space saw Bret Ballard pick up his fifth try of the season which he duly converted from wide out to make the half-time score 17-0.
The second half was a low-scoring affair, but Templars added to their tally with a second try for Harwood as the game ended 22-0 to the visitors.
Halstead are back in Greene King Eastern Counties division three south action today when they travel to Colchester fourths (kick-off 3pm).
