Halstead Cricket Club youngster Ben Morris has won a call-up for England.
However, cricket is not the sport that the 16-year-old has gained national recognition for and he will be joining the England Under-17s football team as they head to Portugal for the annual Algarve Tournament next month.
Morris, who is a forward and is midway through a two-year scholarship with the Ipswich Town Academy, has been given a debut call-up for the Young Lions by head coach Steve Cooper in his 21-man squad.
Morris played several games for Halstead Cricket Club’s thirds in the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship last year, including one when he scored a half-century in their division eight south defeat by Copford seconds in May.
