Due to inclement weather conditions, the Essex Golf and Country Club’s seniors abandoned their scheduled Winter League event and played a four clubs and a putter competition instead.
In second place, edged out on countback with 38 points, was nine-handicapper Bill Sharpe, but first place went to Norman Stechman (18). Nearest the pin on the par three fifth hole was Bill Sharpe.
An Essex Scramble was held in breezy conditions and it was Peter Pidlisnyj, Jim Patey and Sharpe who emerged victorious.
They won with 147 points, while second place, with a score of 128 points, went to Rob Chisholm, Garry Lunn and Roger Farson.
There was also joy for Sharpe in the nearest the pin competition again as he was closest on the par three 14th hole.
