HALSTEAD TOWN fought back from behind to rescue a point in their exciting Thurlow Nunn League derby at home to Haverhill Borough, on Boxing Day.

Two-down at the break, the Humbugs battled back in the first division contest thanks to goals from substitute Tom Cook and Sam Cripps.

Halstead, who had missed several other chances, pushed for a winner and their chances increased when the visitors’ keeper was sent off for violent conduct.

However, it finished all-square at 2-2.

Meanwhile, there was another 11am kick-off, except this time in the premier division, as BRANTHAM ATHLETIC made the short visit to Ipswich Wanderers.

Paul Skingley’s side fell behind on the half-hour mark but equalised through Josh Merritt for a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

The Thurlow Nunn League action continues on Monday, when FC CLACTON play host to premier division neighbours STANWAY ROVERS.

Meanwhile, in division one, unbeaten leaders WIVENHOE TOWN make the short trip to BRAINTREE TOWN RESERVES.

Both games kick-off at 3pm.
