All Sudbury Motor Cycle Club eyes were on Craig Roper at the Muntjac Enduro in Thetford Forest and he delivered with a second-place sub-class finish in the Expert class of the Edmondson Racing/ACU British Enduro Championship.

Despite rain on the previous day and strong winds the GH Motorcycles-sponsored event was a great success with an entry of 210. It was the final round of the British Enduro Championship and Roper finished 12th on the day in the overall Expert class standings.

That put him second in the Expert E1/2 class to make sure he finished the season placed as second best rider in Great Britain in his sub-class. Craig Roper gained four points on the day, while Stevie Roper was 14th for two points and Steve Mason was 15th for one.

In the Championship class, Jamie Roper was up against the country’s elite and finished 14th to secure one point in the main contest and nine in his E2 sub class, in which he was seventh.

Alex Rampton, riding in only his second year, made his debut in the Clubman class of the British Championship and finished in the points in tenth, while Alex Walton was 18th and Daniel Piper 51st.

In the Over-40 Veteran class, Sudbury riders in the points were Gavin Hockey in seventh, Phil Roper in eighth and Jez Moss in 12th, while further down the field were Nigel Ross in 16th, Paul Belton in 18th, David Keeble in 26th and Martin Gunton in 27th.

In the Over-50 Veteran class, Graham Mays was seventh and Chris Ginn 11th as both claimed contest points. There was a private battle in the Sportsman class between Jeff Turner and Dean Curry, which Turner won with third place as Curry took fifth, but both secured points.
