It was tight at the top, but Rosemary Bollen and Ralph Rowe’s back nine holes saw them triumphant in the Autumn Trophy as the final mixed competition of the year was held at Gosfield Lake Golf Club.
Some excellent golf was played in difficult conditions and Carole and James Robinson took third place on countback after they returned 38 points, while the first and second places were also decided by countback.
Second went to Steve and Sharon Clarke, with the eventual win going to Bollen and Rowe, who had 40 points, with 21 of them scored on the back nine.
The best front nine was won by Malachy Shields and Cathy Nott and the best back nine winners were Geoff Powdrill and Georgina Penketh. The winner for nearest the pin on the 17th was Bollen and nearest the pin on the fifth was claimed by Shields.
The prizes were presented by Gosfield chairman Michael O’Shea, who had sponsored the event.
