A second win on the bounce has sent Halstead Templars up to third spot in Greene King Eastern Counties League division three south.
After the disappointment of an early cup exit and two comprehensive defeats at the hands of Harwich and Dovercourt and then Thurston, the Templars needed to inject some forward momentum in their league campaign.
It came at the expense of Clacton Kestrels, who have tended to push the Templars around in the past with a big pack and plenty of catch and drives from close-range lineouts.
However, the Kestrels were beaten 36-19 and Halstead then built on this with a 48-5 win on their trip to Mersea Island.
