It has been an ace summer for young tennis player Scott Bowman.

The nine-year-old from Gestingthorpe, who is a year five pupil at St Margaret’s Prep school in Gosfield, has claimed a host of trophies and medals in a busy few months on the court.

Among them were the under-nine boys’ singles title at the Grove Tournament in Chelmsford, the under-nine boys’ singles at the Cambridge Lawn Tennis Club and the under-ten boys’ singles at Aldersbrook, Vivian Tennis at Wandsworth, London.

However, the ones that Bowman is most proud of were his victory at the annual Essex County Closed Championships where he was the under-nine boys’ singles winner and in taking the under-ten boys’ singles runners–up prize.
