Long-time member Sandra Parnell has finally achieved her dream of becoming Gosfield Lake Golf Club lady champion with a fully-deserved win.
She will have her name added to the honours board in the clubhouse with the added distinction of joining husband Steve – a past men’s club champion – up there as the first couple to achieve this feat at Gosfield.
After the first round, Mel Ponsonby was leader, with Parnell and Jennie Starr two shots behind and two shots ahead of Judy Pryke.
It was all to play for in the second round, but a score of 84 saw the win go to Parnell.
Pryke took second, with Ponsonby third and Starr fourth. The Challenge Trophy was won by Patricia Holmes with a nett 80, with Carole Robinson second on nett 82 and Annie Smith and Cathie Nott on nett 83.
