While Halstead Cricket Club coach Phil Toogood wants a similar result, he would welcome a less nail-biting game against Coggeshall tomorrow than the one he endured at Elmstead Grasshoppers last weekend.

Having lost to Maldon the week before, Halstead knew a win against rock-bottom Elmstead could be crucial to their hopes of Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division one survival this year.

Toogood was delighted with how his players secured a seven-wicket victory, but knows tomorrow’s home game against Coggeshall will be a tougher encounter.

He said: “The side showed a good professional attitude from the outset in arriving early at the ground and then working hard in the pre-match warm up.

“It was noted that the spirits were high and we had lots of positive energy.

“It was also very pleasing to note our patience too when Elmstead got off to a six-an-over start.

“But we have to start all over again on Saturday against Coggeshall in the local derby.

“They will obviously be a much tougher challenge, however if the spirit, energy levels and attitude are the same, then I have no doubt we will win.

“I have no nails left so a comfortable victory will be order of the day.”
