Halstead BMX ace Freia Challis took individual honours and was part of collective team success at the final rounds of the British Series in Birmingham.

The seven-year-old St Andrew’s Primary School pupil, who finished fifth in her age group at the UCI World BMX Championships in Belgium last month, was back on the domestic stage and took her first national wins in the seven to eight girls’ class.

Having gone into the final weekend sitting third in the British standings, it meant she wrapped up her first season of national racing with not only a coveted World Championship plate, but as second overall in her category. The opening day saw Challis win her first national final with a great inside move on the last corner and a great snap out of the gate in the following day’s final saw her lead into the second straight.

She briefly lost the lead, but another great move in the second corner saw it regained and she kept it to the finish line.

Challis was also part of the Braintree Bullets BMX Club team that wrapped up the National Team award in Birmingham.
