Honor Rendall returned from the European Aquathlon Championships in Cologne in Germany with a bronze medal.
The 17-year-old Hedingham School Sixth Form student from Toppesfield was up against stiff competition from competitors from all over Europe and hadn’t been keeping to her usual intensive training regime due to preparing for AS Level exams.
She said: “I was really proud and very excited to get a medal. All the hard training and trying to balance it all with my A level revision really paid off.”
Rendall, who usually competes in triathlons and has represented Great Britain, was competing in only her second international aquathlon. She completed a 1,000 metre open water swim in a tributary of the River Rhine and then ran 5,000m.
