Halstead Town manager Mark Benterman is delighted to have brought Marcus Warren back to Rosemary Lane.

Warren was part of the Halstead side that made it to the Essex Senior Cup final in the 2004/5 season and arrives back at the club after leaving Essex and Suffolk Border League champions West Bergholt.

Benterman said he sees Warren’s versatility down the left side of the pitch as a bonus and is glad to have added another experienced player to his squad.

The Town manager said: “Marcus went to the Essex Senior Cup final with Halstead so he’s a major part of our club’s history and he’s also won the Border League on several occasions. He’s a winner and when I found out he was keen to come over to us I was delighted to get him on board.

“Marcus is a massive signing for us.

“What I’ve learned as a manager is that if you have players with versatility in your squad then you don’t need such a big squad. Fortunately we have eight or nine out of the 18 who can do that and Marcus is one of those.

“He’s already played left-back for us and I’ll probably use him on the left wing when we play Felixstowe and Walton on Saturday.

“He’s 28 and it’s great to have someone with his experience coming on board.”

Halstead’s pre-season preparations continue with a home game against Thurlow Nunn League premier division side Felixstowe and Walton today (kick-off 3pm) and they are then due to host Kelvedon at Rosemary Lane on Tuesday.
