Cameron Kerr had the biggest day of his sporting career as he representing Great Britain at the European Triathlon Championships in Geneva.

The 16-year-old Hedingham School pupil competed in the under-20s category against top athletes from eight different European countries, including a very strong home presence.

In 26 degree heat, he completed a 750 metre swim in Lake Geneva, from which he exited an impressive 17th and following a smooth transition, he set out on his 20 kilometre cycle at a good pace.

The bike course around Geneva had very fast sections but included a challenging steep climb, before Kerr finished the race with a 5km run.

His total finishing time was one hour 14 minutes and placed him in 27th position overall.

Kerr qualified for the European Championships in May, following an impressive result in Nottingham when aged 15.

He trains and competes for Discovery Tri Club and Halstead Swimming Club and gets his bike serviced by Lobbs of Halstead.
