There were successes for pupils of Ramsey Academy, Hedingham School and St Andrew’s Primary School at the East Anglian Schools Orienteering Championships at Hylands Park in Chelmsford.

Hedingham School were crowned East Anglian champions for the third year running, with Ramsey Academy third and St Andrew’s Primary fourth.

In year seven/eight, Ramsey Academy’s Tommy Harrington, Tom Turner and Scott Firman won the boys’ category and Hannah Peters, Shadelle Nelson and Beth Lucas won the girls’, while Hedingham School's Tilly Turp was the individual bronze medalist.

Ramsey Academy’s Callum Turner, Thomas Lock, George Jackson and Owen George won the year nine/ten boys, with individual silver going to Turner.

Hedingham School pupils Daisy Partridge, Abi Duncan, Victoria Love and Cerys Wrigley-Moss were the winning girls’ team with Partridge taking individual gold, silver going to Duncan and Ramsey’s Kaitlyn Draper taking bronze ahead of team-mate Abbie Forster.

Hedingham School were the winners in the year 11+ boys, with individual silver and bronze medals for John-Henry Love and Josh Partridge, along with team-mates Ollie Smith and Anthony Cole.

The Year 11+ girls’ category was a close contest, with Hedingham School’s silver medalist, Chloe Cracknell, in the title-winning team along with Laura Smith, Jasmine Clackett and Annie Northfield.

Ramsey Academy’s Emma Gooden took gold and Lucy Edwards bronze as they and Georgia Gower took team silver.

In the primary schools’ categories, the boys’ team prize was taken by St Andrews, including individual silver for Jamie Hartnup and there was a silver for Lucy Walker and bronze for Amy Skeet in the girls’ category.

Pupils from the three schools will now head to the national final of the Yvette Baker Trophy in six weeks.
