Vicki Weitz impressed her watching coaches as she made history for Halstead Boxing Club at Eastgate ABC’s dinner show at Debenham.
Weitz became the club’s first-ever female boxer to fight in a bout and even though she was edged out in a points decision to University of Essex ABC’s Naomi van Steenbergen, she left her corner feeling proud on a memorable night for Halstead.
Caroline Searles, who is Weitz’s joint coach along with John Webb, said: “It was Vicki’s first bout and she was also the first lady boxer to ever represent the club so it was a big day for all of us.
“It was a big dinner show at Debenham in front of about 400 people as well, but she did ever so well.
“She certainly held her own in all three rounds.
“Vicki’s opponent was perhaps a bit more experienced in terms of her skills, but she gave 110 per cent and did us proud on a historic day for our club.”
