Club captain Jim Clark was the fastest of the trio of Halstead Road Runners who headed to Silverstone for a half-marathon round the iconic motor circuit that took in the track and pit lanes at the home of British racing.

The race attracted around 2,500 runners, many who were using it as a warm-up for London marathon.

Clark was first home for Halstead, finishing the 13.1 mile course in an impressive one hour 31 minutes.

Hot on his heels, in his comeback after a short lay-off due to injury, was Dan Hollinshead, who crossed the line in 1h 39m, while the club’s only lady representative, Hazel Buist, took inspiration from the surroundings and claimed a new personal best (PB) over the distance.

She finished in 1h 49m.

Closer to home, the Essex 20 was held at Langham, with the tough, lapped course again attracting a large field of mainly local runners.

With the London Marathon being only six weeks away, Stuart Prestney is looking in fine form and pushed hard to finish the 20 miles in an excellent time of 2h 15m.
