Halstead Town manager Mark Benterman insists his team will keep fighting for every point as they look to bounce back from their defeat at Dereham Town Reserves.

The Humbugs return to Rosemary Lane to face Team Bury in Thurlow Nunn League division one action today (kick-off 3pm).

They will be looking for better results than the 1-0 defeat they had on their trip to Norfolk last weekend.

But while that result was a disappointment, Benterman said he was pleased with his team’s defensive display as they look to continue putting things in place for a promotion charge next season.

He said: “I know it is all about results and we have to deal with the here and now, but everyone at the club is on the same wavelength and we are trying to look ahead to next year as well as finishing strongly.

“There are 27 points still to play for and we will fight for every point.

“Fans at Halstead Town want to see players fighting for the club and the badge.

“We have had a massive restructuring this year that we’ve had to deal with as 12 to 15 players have moved on and the club has never had a situation like that before.

“But it can’t happen again in the same way next year and we believe we can be in the promotion mix then.

“We now have to work hard for the next 27 points, take the positives that we can out of the season and regroup over the summer so we’re ready to go again.

“I still want us to get to 60 points this season and won’t give up on that.”
