There will be no cup final for Halstead Town this year as Great Yarmouth Town won their Thurlow Nunn League First Division Knockout Cup semi-final 3-2.
The semi-final game started late due to Halstead having travel problems on their way up to Norfolk and that did little to help them settle in the early part of the tie.
They found themselves 1-0 down at the break after Connor Deeks had put the Bloaters ahead in the 21st minute and the Humbugs’ task was even more of an uphill one once Deeks had completed his hat-trick with goals in the 52nd and 63rd minutes.
There was a late fightback from Halstead as they got two goals back, but an equaliser wouldn’t come and it was the Norfolk side who progressed into the final with a 3-2 win.
