The sixth and final round of the Winter League at Braintree Golf Club brought a flood of points with Anthony Little and Mark Banks coming out on top.

Despite being restricted to three clubs and a putter in a betterball format, Little and Banks amassed 47 points to finish five clear of runners-up Malcolm Purrell and Tony Bannister.

Third were Paul Buchan and Andrew Goldsmith with 41 points which was sufficient to see them top the table with 110 points.

Second on 100 were Martin and David Hawes along with Purrell and Bannister.

The competition now moves into the knockout phase involving the leading 16 pairs from the final league table.

Meanwhile, Paul Vale and Richard Turner won the seniors’ four-ball better-ball stableford with 44 points. They finished one ahead of Terry Barke and Martin Rolfe, while David Yates and John Still pipped Len Grindal and John Stone on countback for third place, both with 42.

The nearest the pin prize on the tenth hole went to Dave Bethell.
