Halstead Road Runners’ Stewart Ellis had a clear target as he travelled to Norfolk to compete in the Freethorpe ten-mile road race, but a tough course and conditions meant he missed it by a slim margin.
Having put in months of hard work, Ellis was hoping to break the hour-mark for the ten-mile distance and in doing so, achieve a coveted personal best (PB).
But the course conditions were testing and undulating which meant that Eillis missed his goal by only a few minutes, finishing 38th in a time of 64 minutes 59 seconds.
It meant he did average a very impressive time just over a six-minute mile pace, though.
Elsewhere, male club captain Jim Clark was chased all the way by the ever-improving Dan Hollinshead at the Cornard five-kilometre Park Run.
Clark finished fourth in 19m 52s, while Hollinshead was sixth in a 2m 14s PB.
Danny Hewitt rounded off another dominate Park Run weekend for Halstead Road Runners with a PB time of 21m 30s at the Colchester Castle Park event.
